9068/9122-Upgrade projects
21.12.09
One Upgrade delivered the required improved vessel cleaning and lower operating costs through the supply and installation of a new agitator shaft, mechanical seal support pedestal, incorporating WIP nozzles and new bellows to achieve an improved cGmp design.
The AW Upgrade design ensured improvements in installation and operation as well as a reduction in down time and spare parts costs.
The Upgrade design also allowed for the re-use, without modification, of the existing drive and mechanical seal thus reducing the project costs even further.
The complete Upgrade was carried out in-situ at the customer’s premises, reducing down time to a minimum.
The second Upgrade delivered the required improved vessel sealing, discharge operation and maintenance.
The AW design, supply and installation consisted of replacing the existing discharge valve, with which the customer had sealing and reliability issues and thus high process production costs, with a new segmented valve complete with inflatable sealing.
The new segmented valve was specifically designed so as to allow its installation into the existing vessel block flange, thus eliminating potentially expensive and time consuming vessel modifications.
As the valves inflatable seal required a nitrogen overpressure beyond the normal plant supply pressure, AW also designed and delivered a gas booster system to increase and store the available nitrogen. The system is both innovative and a cost effective solution when compared to the option of increasing the pressure of the existing plant system.
To take advantage of the existing discharge valve control and operation set-up, AW delivered the new segmented valve with identical functionality and control requirements to the replaced valve, saving the need to establish new valve functionality, making yet more project savings.
This complete Upgrade was also carried out in-situ at the customer’s premises, enabling down time to be reduced to a minimum.
